About Alison hart

Life Can Feel Unpredictable

We try to live lives that make sense and matter to us, but life changes can make you question who you are, what life is about, your expectations for the future, and your relationships.

Life Is Messy

Our experiences are messy, feelings are messy, and we all do what we can to make it through.

Maybe you are feeling stuck in a rut, or are overwhelmed after simple interactions, and you can’t understand why.

Maybe you step away from work or school to cry most days, and struggle to understand or express your emotions.

Imagine for a moment what life could be like if you weren’t just making it through. What life could look like if you were able to feel those feelings and no longer felt controlled by depression, body image, substance abuse, or anxiety.

That life is possible! Whatever your current struggle is, I am confident we can partner together to make the changes you are looking for.

Support Can Make a Difference

I use a compassionate, yet direct approach to help clients gain insight into patterns that have them feeling “stuck”. I use evidence-based approaches, such as CBT, Solution Focused Therapy and Brain Spotting, so you can make the long-term behavior changes that will put you on the right track.

My clients have struggled with a range of issues, many of which have their roots in anxiety, depression, or relationship stress. I believe that getting to know how you got here is key to knowing who you are and where you should go.

My name is Alison Hart, AMFT, and I’m glad you’re here. Providing support to individuals working to heal trauma, and navigating through major life transitions is what I love to do. I have a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and have worked in this field with individuals and families for several years. My commitment as a therapist is to assist clients like you in creating an emotional, mental, physical and spiritual balance through whatever storm you may be walking though.

More About Me

I grew up on the shores of Lake Tahoe in a family that loved to recreate and travel. As a teen I realized I was fascinated with human behavior and what makes people tick. After graduating From North Tahoe High School, I moved to Chico to pursue a degree in Psychology. Here I met my husband of over 25 years and we raised our 2 kids. “Empty nest” was a very real thing for me, and I decided to finish my dream of becoming a therapist getting a M.A. in Counseling from
Western Seminary. Now, the clients I work with continue to inspire me on this path.

When I am not counseling, I enjoy adventuring in the great outdoors, spending time with my friends and family and loving on my animals.

While I see clients of all types, here are some of my specialties:

  • People in their 20’s
  • Couples Counseling
  • Greif and Loss
  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Postpartum Depression
  • Major Life Transitions
  • Trauma(sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence)
  • Spirituality

I believe a strong support through one’s community, and trust are important factors for anyone to succeed. My mission is to meet each individual where they are at and help them identify their values, supports and work through issues of life in order to be empowered, persevere and thrive in life.

Create the life you want.

Maybe this is your first time seeking therapy – or maybe you’re looking to return after a break, or a negative experience. No matter what brings you in, there is hope. Together, we can create lasting and meaningful changes.
